Jan 10: Class Selection and BC Welcome Dinner

This is SOAS Vernon Campus. It's 2 min from where I live!
Hello again! So today was my final day of classes for the week, and, after going to all of them, I have made my decisions. My courses will be the following:

Violence, Identity, & Politics in Modern East and Northeast Africa
Economics of Developing Countries I
Banking and Finance in Economic Development
Advanced Economic Analysis

I'm really excited, as each one gave me hope for a good semester this week. Hopefully that continues!

Almost all of my classes will meet in this building. I lucked out!
After attending my final courses of the day, I headed downtown with Katie and two other BC Students studying at SOAS on the tube for our BC Study Abroad Welcome Dinner. It was at Little Siciliy in Soho and was an incredible meal, especially considering I haven't been eating especially structured meals since I've arrived. It was good to see some closer friends from school, share first week experiences, and talk about possible future activities to do while in London.

My official course declaration sheet, to be handed in tomorrow.
I'll be seeing everyone I saw tonight on Saturday, as we will be sightseeing and enjoying lunch at a riverside pub. I'm quite excited to be walking around some of the historic sites of the city. I'm really glad that BC has stuff like this, especially during the first, adjustment-filled week here.

Tomorrow, I will hand in my course declaration sheet, possibly go food shopping, and enjoy a relaxing day off. I am really starting to feel like a SOAS student after this week of introductions and adjustments, even though its only been a few days. That will continue to grow over time, but its nice to finally see my academic pursuits finally take shape here, as well as becoming more accustomed to London life. Hopefully tomorrow will be a fun day.

Til then- Cheers!
