Jan 14: The Second Week Begins

Vernon Hall is nice and close...great on a rainy day!
Today began my second week of class, but really, it felt like the first real week. A week ago today, I was overcoming jetlag still and wondering exactly how to get around. Today, I feel much more at ease with my surroundings and classroom locations.

I only had one course today, Advanced Economic Analysis, which is basically an in-depth Micro Theory course (fascinating, I know). I was lucky to have it in Vernon, the closest building to my dorm (only 2 min) since it was raining all day and even flurry/snowing this morning. I hope the weather doesn't get to bad here because all I do is walk! Class went well, and I was glad to be back in my room a little after 3:00.

I finally was able to gain access to my course's online work today, which is on this interactive database called "Moodle" (I think we used it in high school for some courses, but I can't really remember). Anyway, it was nice to be able to finally get on there and feel like I go to SOAS - unfortunately, by finally accessing assignments, readings, and due dates. Still, its nice to be set up.

My course home page on Moodle...fancy, huh?
After getting some stuff in order for classes, I went out to the store to get a few items to make Katie and I dinner tonight. I decided to cook up some ground beef for some high-quality tacos, which turned out quite nice if I do say so myself. Cooking here will definitely be a fun thing to do - definitely a cheaper alternative to going out all the time (even if its a little more work!).

The rest of the evening I have been watching TV on my computer and reading things for class. It's kind of a bummer when it rains here, it somewhat confines you to your room. Hopefully I won't mind the rain as much when it gets a little warmer outside, but for now, I don't mind relaxing a little. Maybe after class this week I can do something fun around London if the weather clears up. I want to take advantage of the town earlier in the semester before work really piles up.
Til then- Cheers!
Mmm...Tacos!
