Jan 7: First Day of Classes

I didn't take many pictures today, but here is
one from the first afternoon here, taken by Katie.

 

Hello! So, today was my first day of classes, which luckily I only had one to attend: Advanced Economic Analysis (AEA), which should be one of the more difficult course I take here. This semester deals with Microeconomics, which I am pretty excited for. It took some getting used to at first (many concepts I am somewhat familiar with are explained in a sort of British-lingo), but I think it should be a good course, and unless the other four this week are vastly superior, I plan on keeping it on my slate.

Afterwards, I met up with Katie at the Library where we unfortunately were unable to get ID cards since the machine was broken.We walked around Russell Square and then across town, back towards our housing, in order to get to a Carphone Warehouse to get a phone for Katie. I looked into a few data plans myself and may very well return soon.

Later that evening, we went food/supply shopping at Sainsburys, a local grocery store. It's going to be a process this first week, as there is only so much you can carry around the streets of London, but once its done with, I should be well stocked.

Afterwards, Katie and I went a little east of where we usually have been these past few days and found a decent Taco joint called "Tortilla" (I know, clever!). It was on par with a Chipotle from the States, so it was a good meal.

My goal: Try every Cadbury's product. It's a can't miss.

Finally, on the way back, I swung in a convenience store and grabbed some more supplies, but more importantly, some Cadbury's chocolate products. I've been a fan since age 9 when I first came here and all I can say is that it's good to be back!

I'll probably spend the rest of the evening tinkering with class logistics and figuring out how to get more useful items for my room (a printer would be nice) on the cheap. I'll also turn in early, as my first class tomorrow is Economic Development at Africa at the lovely hour of 9am.
