Jan 8: Classes, Part II

I had two new classes today: Economic Development of Africa from 9-11am and
Much better than Star Market...or at least more English.
Banking and Finance in Economic Development from 1-3pm. I really liked Banking and Finance in Economic Development: it was interesting, well-organized, straightforward, and I know what will be expected of me as the course progresses. Economic Development of Africa wasn't as good: while being actually quite interesting, it was fairly disorganized and taught in a way which I found fairly confusing. It feels as though I will be deciding between that course and Economics of Developing Countries I, which I take for the first time on Thursday, for my final slot for classes. We will see.

Here's something: The shower in my bathroom takes a while to get going, taking many tries to get the right "jump", but once it goes... it GOES. (Leaving me like the link you should definitely click on). I might talk to housing to see if can be fixed, but apparently almost everyone has had the same issue. I guess "hygiene" doesn't translate as directly over here.

I had to.
Later, I went to Sainsbury's again to get some cooking utensils and cookware, as well as enjoy the outdoor mall area across the street from it. Now all I need is some good food and I'll be made in the shade.

It's been a little rainy here for the rest of the day, so I just hung out inside and planned for tomorrow (when I hope to get some final touches for my room) and Thursday (where I have my final two classes). It was a fairly slow day after the quick pace of classes early on, but it was a nice day nonetheless.

Sorry to keep it short for today, but I anticipate this first week to move a little slower, as I get settled and decide over classes (which can at times be stressful, because they can definitely be hit or miss, as I've found out from Katie, as well as a few other students). I'm excited for the next few nights, as tomorrow is a Welcome Reception for SOAS Study Abroad and Exchange students, and Thursday a free meal at Little Sicily restaurant in Soho with fellow BC Londoners. It should definitely be a good time!
Til Later - Cheers!
